Hyun Jung Lee (Grace) studied English Education as her Bachelor’s degree and became a certified English Teacher by the Ministry of Education in South Korea in 2000. She has worked in financial industry as a dealer/trader both in Seoul and Singapore for about 10 years. In 2010, she joined the Law School in Seoul and successfully graduated in 2013. She is a qualified Korean lawyer and a patent lawyer acknowledged by the Ministry of Justice and Korean Bar Association. As representative attorney at law, she practiced law mainly as a litigation lawyer in criminal, civil, and human rights lawsuits until she joined the master program of Human Rights at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany. She thus holds Master’s degree in Human Rights. In her master’s thesis, she wrote on “European Court of Human Rights and Same Sex Marriage: Proportionality or something else?” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Laura Clérico. Since Oct. 2016, she is working on her Doctoral Thesis about ‘Making the prohibition of discrimination on the ground of sexual orientation workable’ under the supervision of Prof. Dr. jur. Jan-Reinard Sieckmann. Since April 2018, she works as Research Associate at Law Faculty and teaches proseminars of ‘EU non-discrimination law’ and ‘Case laws of European Court of Human Rights’ at the Law faculty of the FAU.
