Daniel Braga Nascimento has graduated in law and completed two Master’s degrees. The first is an LL.M. from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS-Brazil), where he analyzed practices towards refugee status determination in regard to sexual orientation and gender identity. His thesis was awarded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in 2018 and became the first book related to the topic in Brazil.
For his second Master’s, Daniel was granted an Erasmus Mundus Full Scholarship by the European Commission to study the European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations (emmir.org) and spent two years in four different countries conducting research (University of Oldenburg – Germany; University of Stavanger – Norway; University of Witwatersrand – South Africa; and the University of South Bohemia – Czech Republic).
Currently, he is a PhD Candidate in Law researching Citizenship and Migration Law at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).
