In the second semester of their studies, students carry out a group project, complete an internship or participate in the Nelson Mandela Moot Court. This year, the 13th annual World Human Rights Moot Court competition is being held virtually, with participants from all over the world.
A team of two students participated and made it to the oral hearing, where they had the opportunity to argue in front of a distinguished panel of judges. This year’s hypothetical case deals with the right to freedom of expression, particularly on social media platforms, the right to privacy and the right to political participation. In keeping with the current times, the cases also deal with government measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus such as lockdown measures and forced vaccinations.
We are very proud of the team and look forward to being part of Nelson Mandela World Moot Court again next year.
