From April 2nd to 6th, the students of the M.A. Human Rights had the opportunity to visit Geneva and get first-hand insights into the protection and promotion of human rights at the international level, specifically within the different United Nations (UN) mechanisms. The group met with representatives of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Permanent Mission of Germany to the UN, the UN Refugee Agency, the International Labour Organisation and the International Committee of the Red Cross. In addition, they attended the opening of the transitional justice spring school organised by the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights as well as a session of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This intensive schedule allowed for a diverse array of information and discussions on the different mechanisms and engagements. Moreover, the students had another opportunity to meet the Geneva Academy’s students and continue their interactions.
